Is graffiti considered art?
I think graffiti is a type of art. It may not be the best art to do but it is for sure art. I think if graffiti is done right it can be considered a beautiful addition to a city. Good graffiti can help bring tourists to a city and help it grow. It can also do the opposite though so people have to be careful with what they make. Graffiti is a great way to show the character of a building or town in a really creative way. Graffiti artists can create amazing wall murals that can attract people for miles. As long as graffiti is not destructive it is a great form of art.
In addition, graffiti takes a lot of skill and practice to do right. Sure, someone could just do a sloppy drawing with spray paint, but I feel like a true graffiti artist wouldn't do that. As with any type of art you have to work hard to perfect that skill and graffiti is no exception. First of all you have to buy the materials, learn how to spray/paint with the can correctly, and so on. I don't know how log it takes to master graffiti but like anything else it must take a long while. I don't see why someone would put in all that work and time if what they were doing wasn't art.

Do students need recess?
Students definitely need recess in my opinion. Back in elementary school when we had recess we had a chance to relax and let loose. That's one of the reasons why we really need recess. Recess is one of the few times students get to relax during the school day. It doesn't have to be at a playground, just somewhere outside where the students could roam around. I feel as if we would benefit more from recess than without it. Even just having a short break where people could do whatever they wanted for a little bit would help get students to the end of the day. They would be able to refocus and recharge to tackle those last few classes.
Another reason why i think we should have recess is that it is another time for students to socialize. Lunch is a great time to talk with friends but it is broken up into multiple lunches. People won't get to see all their friends at once. With recess everyone could be together and get all their conversations out of the way so they don't disrupt class. Classes could be calmer and quieter. I think recess would in that way benefit the teachers too. Recess is always a time that is cherished by students in elementary school and I know it would be again in high school.

Is school teaching you the skills needed to be successful in life?
School teaches us many useful skill, but I do not believe that all of them are life skills. I do think that the basics like math, science, history, and english are needed in one's life. That is for sure. There is more to life though than just the basics. We need skills that we will use every single day of our lives. One I can think of is cooking. Not cooking as an elective, but cooking as a must have class. When former kids start heading off on their own they need to know how to cook good healthy meals with whatever they have on hand. Everyone cooks at least once in their lives and we need to know how to do it right from the beginning. I know it will be well worth the time and energy spent because than kids would have gains a wonderful life skill for the future.
Another skill that I think we need is how to manege our finances. I know it is an elective and I myself am taking it, bit I think everyone should be required to take it in some way, shape, or form. When people get out into the world they have to discover what it's like out there financially by themselves. If they take a finance class though, they will get a preview into what will be expected of them and get a grip on how to handle life when it happens. The weight of dept, of any kind, can really drag someone down if they don't know how to avoid it. Finance classes teach you that and more and are well worth it. School teaches kids a ton of useful things, but there is nothing wrong with seeing what we need today and adapting.

Can money buy happiness?
I do not believe money can buy happiness. Happiness is too complex of an emotion to be defined by a thing. Everyone has their own version of joy and what makes them truly happy. Sure, money can provide the basic things people need and that's all fine and good. Money can get you a lot of things, but will those things make you happy? No, they won't. One example I can think of is when someone wants something for a long time but they can't buy it with the money they have. I do believe there is a difference between the journey and the end result in amounts of happiness. The journey to attain something, like the expensive thing someone wants, may indeed make them happy. In the end though once they have spent their money and have their desired item it can only do so much for them in the area of happiness. Once they've tired of it they will go out and look for another thing to spend their money on in the pursuit of happiness.
Another example about happiness is that the amount of money you have doesn't define how happy you can be. Say someone is very poor and yes that is a very bad situation, but they still have the capability to have joy in their lives. They would still need money of course but not for true happiness. I think happiness comes from experiences and a combination of different feelings. You do not need money to have a fun time. It is hard to say exactly what happiness is, but I know for sure it is not something you can buy.

Should the school day start later?
I do not think that the school day should start later. I feel like if the school day was longer students would have less time to do homework even if there was an extra weekend day. A lot of students have extracurricular activities after school and it would be very hard to fit both that and homework in that single time slot. Also students don't all have the same amount of homework. Some may have hours worth while some may just have minutes. Either way we need the time we get in the afternoon so we don't fall behind. Sure, perhaps some students might be able to do homework in the morning but I think it is in less danger of becoming late work if done before bed. It would be different still if teachers assigned homework over the weekend but that's no fun. I personally would give up an extra free day to know that I would have my time in the afternoon to wind down and complete my work.
Another reason I wouldn't want the school day to be longer is that I feel it might be too much packed into one day. If the day went to around say eight to six instead of eight to three thirty-ish students workload would be different. Teachers would be able to fit more into a day. That's not necessarily a bad thing by some standards but not by all. I think students might have a hard time focusing the full day and if they did they would be really tired afterwards. At least I know I would be. Then when they get home they wouldn't have much time before they would have to eat and go to bed. Its hard to know exactly when a school day should start and end and what the best is for who but I think we've got it pretty good right now.

When do you become an adult?
Even though you technically are an adult when you turn eighteen I don't believe that to be completely true. I believe everyone becomes a true adult at a defining moment in their lifetime. It almost always comes with a sort of maturity and wisdom that can only be gained through experience. One common way people become adults is leaving home. It's nothing new, when you're eighteen you get ready to leave the nest and fly. I know circumstances are different for everybody but leaving home is a great way to kick off your life as an adult. When you leave you are on your own and it is up to you to take care of yourself and possibly the others around you. If venturing out on your own is your defining moment there will of course be ups and downs, highs and lows. As you transition into adulthood you will start to find the solutions faster than the problems appear.
Now not everybody becomes an adult under the best conditions though. I firmly believe that adults are born at drastically different ages. There may be a teen who already has the mind of an adult and there many just as well be an older person who hasn't made the leap yet. My point is that sometimes people are forced to become adult and sometimes they are not. In the cause where they are forced to be it could be stepping up and being the bigger person in a hard time. Then after that single moment they continue to grow faster than before. When things get tough that's when becoming an adult can really come in handy. No one can prepare for this way of becoming an adult. While the leaving home way can stretch out over a length of time being mature when things get bad usually happens a lot quicker. Either way becoming an adult is a special time that sets the start of a new life.

How Can One Person's Dream Change The World?
Just one person's dream can change the world. Dreams turn into hope, hope turns into thoughts, thoughts turn into words, and words turn into actions. All the biggest and best changes in our world have started out as just a dream. A dream could just be personal or it could be a dream for the whole world to be a part of. No one's dream matters any less than anyone else's. That's the beauty of dreams really. Everyone has them so imagine what the world would be like if everyone acted on them. Things would be different, that's for sure.
One dream in particular that stands out to me is Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream. His hope and his dream was equality for all and it changed everything. He acted on his dream and did something about it. Anyone can do what Martin Luther King Jr. did and more if they have the will power to make their dreams come true. Some dreams will not change anything. Others will change everything. No matter what dreams deserve to be made into a reality and nothing less. Besides, who knows what dream will make all the difference.

Paper or Electronic Books?
Honestly, I like both types of books. If I had to choose one though I would pick paper books. I just love the feeling of holding a book in your hand and feeling the texture and smoothness of it. Even though they are a bit more expensive I feel like its worth it. I only have one electronic book. Sure its convenient to have it wherever I go, but I don't think that's enough, at least for me. I have so many paper books. I just can't get enough of them. They take up a good amount of space in my room and I think that's great.
I know I'm going to be reading for the rest of my life and I want it all to be filled with printed letters and textured covers. I think there's a reason bookstores are my favorite type of store. Its the sense of being surrounded by infinite knowledge and infinite worlds all at your fingertips. Electronic books may be more efficient than paper books, but that's fine with me. Paper books feel real while with electronic books it just feels like your reading an article or something. Paper books are the books for me.

Literary Analysis
In the novel Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard foreshadowing was used. When Mare and her friends walk through the city they see wanted posters “Some know what I am, and they have written it across the posters for all to see. Red Queen. The lightning girl. She lives. Rise, Red as dawn. Rise. Rise. Rise.” (Page 196) Even though she is not a queen, Mare has been called Red Queen before. I believe I is a hint or foreshadowing for what will happen later on. Throughout the first book Mare was given the proper teaching to potentially become someone of power and she is already somewhat of a leader. The author uses a lot of foreshadowing in her books. I think it was very clever that she used it here because it’s so subtle. Mare is slowly rising in power and she might just become a Red Queen.
E-Portfolio
One benefit to using a digital portfolio is how it helps you get out into the job market. Many employers are looking for digital portfolios because of them being a more thorough version of a resume. Having one would greatly help your chances. A challenge I have when using a digital portfolio is that it can sometimes be hard to fill it. It’s nice when teachers give us something to write about, yet at other times I can think of things myself. Most of the time though, I have trouble thinking of something worthy to put in there. A digital portfolio can be very beneficial to my academic career. I can and will develop a better writing style over time. Also, colleges could view it and that might help me get into a good school.
I would definitely look to write more in my posts and add more details. I would also like to post more often to fill up all the space. If we are supposed to, I think personalizing our portfolios would be a nice touch. There are so many skills that I could use in a future professional digital portfolio. First of all there’s the skill of actually creating the portfolio. Before I made my portfolio I would have had no clue what to do. Another skill would be being able to do short answer responses like I do in my portfolio. I’m really glad I got the chance to make an E-Portfolio.

How and Why and Dogs Were Domesticated
Dogs have been domesticated animals for roughly 30,00 year give or take a few. What is common knowledge now is that modern dogs descended from wolves. However it is not the grey wolf we know today, instead dogs and grey wolves evolved from a more ancient species of wolf. Wolves and in turn dogs, didn't get domesticated overnight. Domestication was a slow process that lasted thousands of years. It all started with wolves. Really, wolves in a sense domesticated themselves. Humans would sometimes have too much food after a hunt and throw out the scraps. This is where the wolves come in. They would begin to hang around the camp to eat the scraps and so it became one of their food sources. Later on wolves came to think human territory was their own and would guard it from predators. Wolves would even help with the hunt now and then. After thousands of years of this we have our domesticated dog.
I have a dog myself, and her name is Ginger. She is a Chihuahua mix and very feisty. If you just look at her you wouldn't think she came from a wolf. Yet as with all other dogs they share similar bone structure and other traits. She protects her territory, play hunts, and still gets food from humans. Ginger and modern dogs are also very different from their ancestors besides obvious reasons. She does not live in a pack, does not have the same diet, and I doubt she could survive for as long as wolves do in the wilderness. Either way I do very much believe dogs are mans best friend and I don't know what we would do without them.

What I Look Forward To Each Week
After a long week its nice to have something to look forward to. Like most people, I long for the weekend. I love the feeling of just having your entire day free and limitless. Also, I get to do things that I can't usually do during the school week. Firstly, I get to get up early or earlier than I do normally. My mornings commence with me raising before the sun. This is generally when I get the most things done. A lot of the time I'll do a painting which will take up most of my morning. I don't mind though, seeing as that is one of the many things I look forward to doing on my weekends.
One of my favorite things to do on the weekend is read, but what to read its hard to decide. My room is stacked with books, and I've read most of them. Still, I find things that pique my interest. Whether it be a reread, a nonfiction book, or something online, I find words to read. When I'm not reading I'm commonly found browsing through Netflix, YouTube, or just the internet. Its a fun way to pass the time while I have my dog Ginger snuggled on my lap. Ginger is yet another thing I look forward to when i get time off. The only times I get to see her is early in the morning and at night. Everyday when I come home from school she is always so excited to see me and me her. Even though she sleeps most of the day, she is still fun to be around. Overall, the weekend is a time where I get to recharge and refocus and is something I work toward each day.

Spring Break
As always I was super excited for spring break. Even though I didn't travel any where I did have a fun break. First of all I went to my favorite store, Barnes and Nobles. I feel like I could wonder in that store for hours and still be surprised by a book. Unexpectedly, I ended up buying a book on scientific theories. It consisted of theories like continental drift, the human race growing from a common African ancestor, the theory of relativity, and so many more. I immediately started reading as soon as I bought it. Currently, I am about half way through and have found it very interesting so far.
I started out each and every day by getting up bright and early at four in the morning. Don't worry I still got a decent amount of sleep. I don't know why but I just love the peace and quiet of early mornings. Maybe its the fact that I get to see the sun come up. For most of the break I did a steady back and forth between reading my theory book and watching Netflix and YouTube. I would also draw here and there. Later on in the week I did a painting of space. I followed the instructions step by step off a video on YouTube. In the end I was quite proud of it.
One of the bigger highlights of my break was visiting the Perot Museum. I haven't been there in years and it was nice to go there again. We went to all the exhibits and they were just as cool as I remembered. While the rest of the group took the elevator me and my brother walked up all the flights of stairs. We went from top to bottom and bottom to top multiple times. By the end of the day my feet were so sore. Overall I think I had a pretty good spring break.

Types of Tiny Houses
(Free Write)
There are so many different types of tiny houses. That's one reason why I like them so much. They come in all shapes and sizes; from 188ft to an absolute most of 1,000ft. Tiny houses are a world wide phenomenon and continue to grow in popularity. I think some people are draw to the freedom a tiny house brings to them. Each tiny house is unique and special in its own little way.
First, there is the traditional trailer home. This is different from a RV or mobile home seeing as it can be custom built. Trailer homes can be transported around in the way of being hooked onto a vehicle. Many but not all of them have an attached porch. Trailer homes don't sacrifice anything when it comes to comfort. It is also convenient that you can just park your house anywhere.
Second, we have another type of moveable house and that is a bus conversion. Many people wouldn't think to turn a bus into a house but I think its great. Once you get all the seats out you are left with this super long blank canvas to work with. One thing I really like about bus tiny homes is that you don't have to attach a car to it, it already is one. There is also a ton of natural light because the walls are lined with windows.
The last type of mobile home I'm going to mention is a house boat. Though it can't travel on land it I can't say the same about the coast. House boats could be constantly at sea or just docked. I could just imagine going out on the deck and feeling the fresh air. They are rather unique but can still have the comforts of home.
Finally, last but not lest is the shipping container house. The first thing I want to note is that they are extremely durable. They are both hurricane and fire proof making them one of the safest tiny houses. You could have just one shipping container or you could combine more than one to make it a bit larger. There are so many thing you could do with a shipping container. You could make the side come down to create a porch, have a whole wall of windows, and more.
There are so many more types of tiny houses besides just these four. Each of these would have ample storage with easy accessibility. Though downsizing might be a bit of a challenge I think its worth it. I know the tiny house community will keep coming up with more and more creative ways to make small spaces work.

J.K. Rowling
''Go To'' Connections
J.K. Rowling is a world famous author who wrote the equally or more famous Harry Potter series. In addition to Harry Potter she has delved into the genre of adult fiction continuing her writing journey. As the world of Harry Potter grew J.K. Rowling launched her site Pottermore for those fans who just can't get enough. The website has little bits of information written by J.K. Rowling and it is also interactive. Before Pottermore there were the Harry Potter movies. J.K. Rowling had a massive effect on the movies and are one of the best book to film adaptations there are. I have a feeling those movies will entertain people for generations to come. What's more, Pottermore is not just a fan site. It constantly updates with new from J.K. Rowling herself and other Harry Potter things. If you need the latest news on anything that might be even a little bit Harry Potter that is the place to go.
Now, on Quidditch; I think it is absolutely amazing that J.K. Rowling created her own sport. I believe it really helped immerse fans deeper into the Harry Potter world. It gives them something to recreate besides just waving a stick around. Before Harry Potter J.K. Rowling taught English so she had a really great understanding of literature to help her get started with her career as an author. She also helped write the play Harry Potter and The Cursed Child.
I know for sure that J.K. Rowling will go down in history. All of this was what she believed in and what has been and will always be her life. She does what she loves everyday whether it be writing, communicating with fan, updating her site, or just spending time with her family. She has the freedom to do whatever she pleases with her life because she stuck with it and pursued her passion.

Doing What You Love
(Free Write)
Doing something you love means to truly live. If you had a job that you hated you would be absolutely miserable. Also you wouldn't try you hardest. When you do something you love you are at your fullest potential. You are more positive and can really appreciate life. Doing what makes you happy will change your life for the better.
A personal example of this is that I enjoy being creative. That is what i love to do. It doesn't matter what I do as long as there is a strong creative aspect about it. What I do can range from painting to knitting to interior design. Whatever I choose I make sure it is something I love doing and that it makes me happy no matter what.
Now think about J.K. Rowling; she loved her job. If she didn't believe in what she was creating I doubt Harry Potter would be half as good as it is today. Even after she got rejected so many times she kept going because she loved what she did. J.K. Rowling wakes up each morning and she doesn't do work, she has fun.
In conclusion doing something you love is important because it doesn't just impact you. If you have a job but it isn't your dream job the things you make and do in that job will be in poor quality. Also working in a job that makes you unhappy will have negative health effects. You won't want to go to work in the morning even if it pays well.

Also working in a job that makes you unhappy will have negative health effects. You won't want to go to work in the morning even if it pays well.
The Beauty Of A Rainy Day
Rainy days are one of my favorite type of days. In edition to the beautiful background noise it supplies me with it also gives me a sense of peace. The soft tap tap of the rain drops on the windows and the crackle of the cozy fireplace just bring it all together. Those cloudy dark days are perfect for naps as well. Also I love to hunker down on a puffy rocking chair with a good book and just get lost in it. For meals hot soup is always preferable. Thunder is another thing I absolutely love about rainy days. The flash, the boom, and the rain make their sweet music.
I also love what rain means. Though in reality it has many interpretations rain in a basic sense means cleansing. In many movies there is always someone walking in the rain. It could after everything has gone wrong and then suddenly the million dollar idea hits them. It could be a couple saying goodbye or hello again. There are so many ways rainy days can be utilized in a story and I think that is just awesome. Now I have to say whether in movies or in real life there is always a rainbow just around the corner.

I Will Never Forget . . .
(Free Write)
I will never forget the feeling of paint on my fingers. The sound of the brush gliding across the canvas and the splash of water as I rinse my brush make me feel as if these tools are a part of me as I create something new. The canvases have their rough yet smooth texture. The brushes range from super tiny to as large as can be while the hairs are as soft as ever. The paint is something else entirely. It is creamy and glides across the canvas with ease one moment. Then in another it is tough and brittle and in desperate need of a drink of water. With paint on my fingers I know I did my task and besides its fun to get a little messy sometimes.
I will never forget the smell of home. I will always know the smell of my pillow as I drift off to sleep. I will always feel my big cozy armchair underneath me wherever I sit. Different smells for dinner each night will never get old. The feeling of my dog snuggled up against me on a cold day will never fade. The memory of my old tree swing will linger on. The people I know now I will know always.
Years from now as I looks back I know there are some things I can never forget and I'm glad. The thought of knowing that I'll always have these memories makes me wonder what new memories tomorrow will bring. I'm grateful for the good memories, the bad, and all that comes with them.

Thank You Authors
Dear Authors,
Thank you. You have been with me my entire life. From bedtime stories to epic novels, you have been there. You have guided me through good times and bad. Really, reading was where I went when I wanted to jump into another world. My imagination was shaped by the books I've read through the years, your books. My imagination wouldn't be half as good as it is today if I hadn't read so much. You express ideas that would have been lost if they hadn't been written. You have inspired others to follow the same path and without fail they do the same. All it takes is just one idea and boom, there's a great story waiting to be written. Its endless really; there will always be more stories.
Writing is truly a beautiful thing. The way writers can create intricate worlds with a type on the keyboard or the scratch of a pencil on paper is stunning. Writers make--maybe not intentionally--communities that bring people of all walks of life together. Authors connect to so many people on so many different levels. Writing lets your feelings run wild on paper. Authors can do anything, create anything when they write. Writing is always for a purpose, always. Even when someone is just writing to write there's a purpose. I am writing this to say thank you authors for what you do for the world. There will never be enough authors.

PAINTING THE DAY AWAY
I reached into the cabinet and grabbed my canvas, paints, and brushes. My canvas was small like most of my previous paintings. I set up my painting station, brushes on the left and paint on the right. At the sink I got a cup of water and was ready to paint. I dipped my brush into the water and then into the blue paint. Stroke by stroke I filled in the background of the canvas with blue. I dabbed on a little yellow to give the hint of a sun off to one side. I looked back at the picture I was trying to paint and loaded the next color on my brush. My brush flew back and forth from the water to the paint as I mixed the colors. I added the trunk, the leaves, and the flowers with delicate strokes. In the end my canvas had become a collage of color.
